My first grade students did a Readers' Theatre of the story The Sleeping Pig. This is a great way to teach kids to read with expression and they love being able to hear themselves read.   It was great fun having the kids practice reading the story.  They were all so motivated to learn to read their new story.  They wanted to be ones chosen to record themselves reading.
